KC hunt seven straight wins

first_imgRed-hot Kingston College will be on the hunt for their seventh straight victory today when they face Denham Town High in a top-of-the-table Group C clash in the ISSA-FLOW Manning Cup at the Edward Seaga Complex. Kick off time is 3:30 p.m.KC are in impressive form, following six wins from as many games, to be on top in the group on maximum 18 points. Denham Town are next on 15 points, followed by Papine High (7), St Mary’s College (5), Ascot High (4) and Norman Manley High (2).A win for KC today would guarantee a spot in the Manning Cup second round and also put them in a good position for automatic spots in the prestigious FLOW Super Cup and Walker Cup knockout competitions.Denham Town were beaten 4-0 by KC in the reverse fixture two weeks ago at the National Stadium, but head coach Ludlow Bernard said it will be a tough away game.”I expect Denham Town will be in the their comfort zone at home. We have three players (Shamar Bloomfield, Trayvon Reid and Nathan Thomas) from the Tivoli community and will play all three,” Bernard told The Gleaner yesterday.LEADING MARKSMAN”The three players will be at home and we also expect the other players to adapt to the situation as the field is a small one,” he added.KC also have in their line-up Rashawn Mackison, who is the competition’s leading marksman on 14 goals. He has scored in all KC’s games.However, Bernard said they are not a one-man team. “He (Mackison) has lifted the tempo in the Manning Cup in terms of goalscoring. It is a team effort and we don’t rely heavily on one player.”Denham Town coach Omar Edwards, says that his team will be ready for the return game against KC.”I believe the team was still in preseason for the first game. We have moved from strength to strength since that game,” Edwards said.”We are mentally prepared for KC as they are a really good team. However, we will give them a fight and, hopefully, come away with a positive result,” Edwards, who is also assistant coach of the national Under-17 team, added.Today’s gamesDenham Town vs KCAscot vs Norman ManleySt Mary’s College vs PapineJonathan Grant vs MeadowbrookHaile Selassie vs ArdenneSt Catherine vs Pembroke HallDunoon vs Wolmer’sJosÈ Marti vs Kingston TechnicalEdith Dalton James vs CamperdownCampion College vs CumberlandCalabar vs St JagoHydel vs Bridgeport*Home teams are named first and all games start at 3:30 p.m.Points standingTeams GP W D L GF GA GD PtsGroup AExcelsior 4 3 1 0 14 3 11 10G Portmore 5 3 1 1 12 12 0 10St George’s 3 3 0 0 13 1 12 9Tivoli 5 1 4 0 6 10 -4 3Tarrant 5 0 0 5 3 21 -18 0Group BJC 3 3 0 0 9 0 9 9STATHS 4 1 2 1 2 3 -1 5Eltham 4 0 2 2 1 3 -2 2Vauxhall 3 0 2 1 2 8 -6 2Group CKC 6 6 0 0 35 1 34 18D Town 6 5 0 1 11 4 7 15Papine 6 2 1 3 12 7 5 7St Mary’s 6 1 2 3 6 19 13 5Ascot 6 1 1 4 6 25 -19 4N Manley 6 0 2 4 4 18 -14 2Group DH Selassie 6 5 0 1 13 5 8 15St Catherine 6 4 2 0 7 2 5 14J Grant 6 4 1 1 14 5 9 13Ardenne 6 2 1 3 5 12 -7 7M’brook 6 1 0 5 5 10 -5 3P Hall 6 0 0 6 2 12 -10 0Group EC Smith 5 4 0 1 13 4 9 12H Trinity 5 4 0 1 10 2 8 12Waterford 5 3 0 2 13 6 7 9C Carty 4 0 1 3 0 11 -11 1Mona 5 0 1 4 2 15 -13 1Group FWolmer’s 6 6 0 0 22 0 22 18C’down 6 4 1 1 13 4 9 13KTHS 6 2 2 2 5 4 1 8Dunoon 6 2 1 3 4 9 -5 7J Marti 6 1 2 3 6 9 -3 5Edith Dalton 6 0 0 6 2 19 -17 0Group GSt Jago 6 4 1 1 12 2 10 13Bridgeport 6 4 1 1 9 3 6 13Hydel 6 3 2 1 19 4 15 11Calabar 6 3 0 3 11 5 6 9Cumberland 6 2 0 4 8 12 -4 6Campion 6 0 0 6 0 33 -33 0last_img
