Thurston County Historic Commission Awards 2014 Preservation Grants

first_imgSubmitted by Thurston CountyHistoric preservation programs in Thurston County have been given a boost, thanks to grants authorized Tuesday, January 7 by the Board of County Commissioners. The funding comes under a legislative enactment that sets aside $1 from each $5 historic document recording fee collected by the county auditor. The grant program is managed by the Thurston County Historic Commission which reviews and recommends funding in compliance with guidelines established by the Commissioners. The Board of County Commissioners agreed to fund all nine heritage grant applications for 2014.The nine grants are listed below –• Olympia Tumwater Foundation – Pilot project for school field trips to the Tumwater Historic District. $5,000• Bigelow House Preservation Association – Bigelow House gothic bedroom restoration project. $5,000• Delphi Community Club – Schoolhouse re-roof. $5000• Lacey Museum – Purchase of Past Perfect Museum software and multimedia upgrade to improve access to the Lacey Museum collection. $1,004• Rainier Historical Society – Renovation of two rooms and entry of the historic Rainier School. $5,000• Sand Man Foundation – Renovate electric charging system, manufacture and install ground tack system and roof repair. $4,940• City of Olympia – Heritage Commission alley naming/improvement project. $5,000• City of Tenino – City of Tenino Kiosk signage and historical mural. $4,970• Old Brewhouse Foundation – Old Brewhouse History Mobile. $5,000 Facebook13Tweet0Pin0last_img
