first_imgRoss Richards, age 69, died Monday evening, February 9, 2015 at Select Medical Hospital – St. Francis in Wichita.Ross Richards was born on August 6, 1945 in St. Joseph, Mo. to Walter C. “Bub” Richards and Ann H. (Hewitt) Richards. He was raised in Wellington but lived most of his adult life in Coffeyville, KS. He was a graduate of Wellington High School Class of 1963 and Emporia State University in 1967. He also received his Master’s Degree from Emporia State University in 1968.He started teaching in Coffeyville, KS at the McFarland Trade School, taught at the Coffeyville Community College and managed the Student Union. He owned two gift stores and was a sales representative until his retirement.He married Shari G. Jones on June 11, 1967 in Wellington. Together they celebrated 47 years of marriage.He was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include his loving wife, Shari of Wellington, KS; mother in law, Genece Jones of Wellington, KS; brother in law, Don Jones and his wife Sheryl; two nephews, Scott and Steven Jones all of Arvada, CO; Steve Meeker and his wife Mary; James Ginter and his wife Megan; Craig Meeker and his wife Melissa all of Wellington, KS; nine great nieces and nephews; several cousins; and special friend, Mary Kengle of Coffeyville, KS.Graveside Services will be held at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 1:30 P.M.  Reverend Brent Clayton will officiate.Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 1 to 8 p.m.Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and the National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri in lieu of flowers.
