New fence to surround Fort Hotel property

Fort St. John City Councilors decided on Monday to replace the wooden barrier with a more aesthetically-pleasing fence around the property. – Advertisement -The new structure will be similar to a residential-style fence, complete with fence posts made out of galvanized pipe that are set into the sidewalk. The panels will be made out of wood. It comes at a cost of around $30,000, which will be taken out of the capital budget.Meanwhile, Director of Facilities and Protective Services, Jim Rogers, says there will still be an opportunity to construct a community bulletin board on the fence. Now the previous owner has until September to reclaim the land by purchasing it back from the City. Earlier this year, Mayor Bruce Lantz says the City plans to clean up the debris after the transaction is finalized. A report submitted to City Council indicates that the City will still attempt to recover the demolition and remediation costs from the property owner.last_img read more
