Tigers new base valuable to Syd Airport TIC

The Tourism Industry Council NSW general manager Andrew Jefferies said the low-cost carrier’s decision to move more of its operations into the city’s gateway underscores its “importance” to the state’s economy with an additional 150 jobs and possibility of further flights and frequencies. “It [Tiger’s second base] underscores the vital role that Sydney Airport plays in creating new employment and investment opportunities for the state of New South Wales and the nation,” he said.Generating up to $8 billion of NSW’s economic activity, Mr Jefferies said the figure could be higher if the 80 flights an hour cap were lifted and allow the Airport to operate at full capacity. “It is the state’s critical piece of infrastructure and it’s absurd to think that an outdated piece of federal legislation continues to hold back the ability to build and develop our state’s industry into the future,” he concluded.last_img read more
